As promised, here’s another real world use for NotebookLM.
Let’s say you have a few health issues that require you to eat differently than you are used to. Some of the instructions about what to eat and how much, seem to contradict other instructions. After getting medical advice, you now understand what the doctor wants you to do and you have a bunch of reference materials about what to eat. But it is A LOT of information and you worry you might forget something. If you load those materials into NotebookLM, you can ask it questions about which foods the materials say you can and can’t eat. Using the “pasted text” feature, you can add specifics like “always give instructions in step-by-step format” or “tailor all responses for someone who is on a low sodium diet”. You can even ask it to suggest menus based on the information.
Remember, NotebookLM will only look at the materials in the Notebook. It will not use the internet to source other information. You have to remember the old saying “Garbage in, garbage out”. Make sure the documents loaded are accurate.
When looking at the results of your question, if something doesn’t make sense ask questions.
