Anyone else tired of the constant texts from the unknown?? It seems to be worse lately.
We can’t stop them completely, but let’s at least slow down the amount.
Depending on your phone (iPhone, Android, etc.), your carrier (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc.), and your OS version, the exact steps may will be slightly different, but they will look something like this.
Android
Open Messages: Open your default messaging app.
Go to Settings: Tap your profile icon or the three dots in the top right corner, then select Messages settings.
Toggle Spam Protection: Tap on Spam protection and switch Enable spam protection to On.
iPhone
Open Settings on your iPhone.
Scroll down and tap Apps, then select Messages (or go straight to Messages depending on your iOS version).
Scroll down to the Message Filtering section.
Toggle on Filter Unknown Senders.
Note: This creates a separate tab in your Messages app called “Unknown Senders” for numbers not saved in your contacts.
There are third party text blocker options for monthly fees (Textkiller, Robokiller, etc.), but I suggest using your phone’s built in protection or your phone carrier’s protection first.
