There are several things you can do to customize the Gmail desktop to work better for you. Here are a few options:
- Rearrange the apps in the 9 dot area (aka Google Waffle)
- Combine the inbox or expand it out (adjust in Settings/Inbox)
- Adjust the background color to ease eyestrain (adjust in Settings/Themes/Background color)
There was one thing that has been bugging me for a while and I didn’t realize I could easily fix it.
Rearrange where items are in the left menu window
Enough stuff gets stuck in Spam that I find I need to check it often. Even though it might take just a moment, clicking More to pull up the rest of the menu was annoying. I wanted Spam to show near the top of the window so I can easily find it.
The fix was easy . . . wish I would have taken care of this sooner.
To move an item in the left menu window:
- Open Gmail
- Click More
- Press and drag the item above More
