The “Tab Snooze” Trick

The Problem: Browser tab clutter builds up fast. Having 30+ tabs open isn’t just visually distracting — it slows down your computer.

Do This Instead: Use built-in tab suspension features instead of keeping everything active.

Chrome/Edge:

  • Click on the 3 dots in the top right corner
  • Go to Settings and click on Performance
  • Scroll down to Memory Saver and turn it on
  • Leave the selection at Balanced
  • Close the tab

Safari:

  • Click the Sidebar icon in the top-left corner
  • Click the + (Plus) button next to Tab Groups in the sidebar and choose New Tab Group from [X] Tabs
  • Give it a title
  • Click back to your regular start page. The tabs in your saved group stop consuming active memory while remaining pinned in your sidebar.
