If you watch the Superbowl for the commercials, then you saw Ring Search Party where the lost dog is returned home. I love happy endings and would love to see every dog returned to its loving home, but the first thing that comes to my mind with this commercial is privacy.
If you are concerned about privacy and want to disable this feature on your Ring Cameras, follow these steps:
- Open the Ring App
- Navigate to the main dashboard
- Tap the three-line menu icon in the top-left corner
- Select Control Center
- Tap on Search Party
- Turn off the feature, such as “Search for Lost Pets,” for each of your cameras.
This feature is often enabled by default, requiring you to opt out. If enabled, it uses AI to scan saved footage when a neighbor reports a lost pet.
For maximum privacy, you can also delete your video history through the app’s history settings.
