Turn Off AI Training in Gmail

There is a setting that you may want to turn off in Gmail. It is a relatively new setting.

This setting allows Google to use your data to train their AI models. If you want to turn it off, here are the steps:

  1. Open Gmail and click the Settings gear icon in the top right corner.
  2. Click See all settings.
  3. Go to the General tab.
  4. Scroll down and turn off the following by selecting the “Off” option:
    • Smart Compose
    • Smart Compose personalization
    • Nudges
    • Smart Reply
  5. Click the Inbox tab.
  6. Under Importance markers, select No Markers.
  7. Choose Don’t use my past actions to predict which messages are important.
  8. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.
