We all know how to copy and paste text. And you may have noticed that when you copy from a source document, you’re copying both the text and its formatting.
But what if the formatting doesn’t match your destination document?
The quick solution is to paste without the formatting.
In Microsoft Word, if you right-click where you want to paste, you’ll see three options:
Keep Source Formatting
Merge Formatting
Keep Text Only
The safest way to ensure you are only copying the text and not the format is to choose “Keep Text Only”. This will ensure that none of the source formatting moves with the text. You can then format the pasted section however you like.
Using Merge Formatting may work, but there are instances when you end up with format styles that you don’t want.
Give it a try the next time you need to copy some text.
