Chrome Group Tabs

Stop! Before you read any further, count how many open tabs you have in your web browser. I’m willing to bet it’s more than five tabs.

If you have way too many tabs open try using Tab Groups. It is ideal if you have multiple tabs open for multiple projects. Just select the tabs you want grouped together and give them a name.

On a PC in Chrome:

  • Hold down the Control button and click each tab you want in the group

  • Right mouse click

  • Choose “Add Tab to Group”

  • If you are starting a new group, give the group a name and color

  • You can also add tabs to a group that already exists

Now click on any other tab. The group tabs consolidate into one. Toggle between expanding/contracting by clicking on the colored tab. Instant browser clean up!

The steps are similar for Safari and Edge. If you are using Firefox, you will need to download an add-on such as “Simple Tab Group”.

Give it a try and see how much more organized you can feel.
